Six domed asteroid colonies floating around a ringed planet

ATMOFORGE · an idle factory game

From scrap to starlight.

Crash-land on a frozen asteroid with nothing but a cutting torch. Mine ice, light the Atmogen, and grow a breathing colony across six asteroids, until you launch the Ark.

The game

A factory you can walk through

Atmoforge is an idle game with hands. You start by walking, mining and salvaging yourself. Every resource is gathered by hand before a machine can take over, and every machine you place stays on the rock, humming, venting steam and glowing at night.

Keep the air flowing

Every asteroid has an Atmogen that burns ice to hold a breathable dome. The dome decides where you can build, its air drives your crewed machines, and expanding it through five levels reveals the rest of the rock.

Step outside and your suit tank starts to drain. Every trip into the open is a timed dive.

Gather by hand, then automate

Ice shards, wreckage of the lost First Expedition, regolith and lichen: you harvest them yourself first. Then you build harvesters, smelters and power, and the factory takes over while you explore further out.

A guide beacon and short goal chains teach one idea at a time.

Upgrade every machine

Instead of copying the same building a hundred times, you improve the ones you have: Mk I to Mk IV tiers plus Overclock, Efficiency, Quality and Power Saver modules on every building. Match all brings the rest of a type up to your best one in a tap.

Idle that respects your time

Close the tab and your colony keeps working for up to 8 hours (more with research), Atmogens included. No energy timers, no forced ads, no paywalled content.

Play as a guest or make a free account to keep your colony safe in the cloud and pick it up on any device.

The journey

Six ages, six asteroids

Each age bridges you to a new rock with new resources, new machines and a new Atmogen to light. First Ark launch: around 8 to 10 hours of play, spread over a few days.

  1. Cradle, the icy crash-site asteroid, under its dome
    I

    Salvage Age

    Cradle

The icy rock your escape pod slammed into. Scrap, ice and stubbornness.

  2. Verdigris, a green copper-streaked asteroid with smelters
    II

    Forge Age

    Verdigris

Copper-streaked hills, green with oxidised metal. Melt the rock. Pour the metal.

  3. Ironheart, a rust-red planetoid core with steel mills
    III

    Machine Age

    Ironheart

The rusty core of a shattered planetoid. Steam, steel and the hum of machines.

  4. Glasswake, pale silicate plains with solar arrays beside a frozen lake
    IV

    Circuit Age

    Glasswake

Pale silicate plains around a frozen lake. Wire the belt. Light up the dark.

  5. Emberfall, a volcanic asteroid with reactors and a glowing cone
    V

    Fission Age

    Emberfall

A volcanic rock that never cooled down. Split the atom. Tame the furnace.

  6. Starfall, a violet crater asteroid with glowing fusion machines
    VI

    Stellar Age

    Starfall

Something fell here long ago. It still glows. Forge stars. Leave the belt behind.

Built in the open, with you

Atmoforge is young and growing every week. Here's where the colony stands, what's coming next, and how to tell the crew what you think.

Crew log

  1. Hello, Atmoforge

The game has a new name and a home at atmoforge.app, along with this website, a new logo and a press kit.

  2. Your colony, safe in the cloud

Free accounts: your progress saves to the cloud and follows you to any device. The server keeps 40 earlier versions of every colony, so an accidental restart can always be undone from Settings → Backups.

  3. Breathe easy: suit air

Your astronaut now has a personal air tank. It refills inside breathable domes and drains in open space. Run dry and the suit beacon hauls you home.

  4. From islands to asteroids

The first prototype was set on floating islands. It moved to an asteroid belt, gained the Atmogen and its domes, and per-building upgrades replaced endless copies.

    Depth

Achievements and stats, Star Charts (permanent upgrades from Ark launches), dome breaches to patch and ice comets to catch, auto-upgrade toggles.

  3. Later · v1.0

    Ship it

Languages, accessibility (colour-blind status icons, text scaling), then Android and iOS apps and a Steam release.

FAQ

Questions, answered

Is Atmoforge free?

Yes. The whole game is free to play in your browser. Any extras we add later are optional and never lock away content: everything can be earned by playing.

Do I need an account?

No. You can play as a guest and your progress is saved in that browser. A free account backs your colony up to the cloud so you can continue on another device, and it keeps 40 earlier versions in case something goes wrong.

What devices does it run on?

Any modern browser with WebGL 2: phones, tablets, laptops and desktops. On touch screens you drag to walk and tap to interact; on a computer use WASD or click-and-hold.

What happens while I'm away?

Your colony keeps producing for up to 8 hours (research extends that), and the Atmogens keep burning ice, so leave them stocked. When you come back you'll see what was made.

How long is it?

Reaching the Stellar Age and launching your first Ark takes around 8 to 10 hours of play, usually spread over several days. After that you can start a New Expedition with a permanent +50% production bonus for every launch.

Is it OK for kids?

Yes. There's no chat and no violence. A username account needs no email or other personal information, and each person on a shared computer gets their own save slot.

I lost my progress. Can it be recovered?

Usually, yes. Open Settings → Backups in the game: there are snapshots on your device and, if you have an account, up to 40 versions in the cloud. If that doesn't help, send us a message with your username.
