Atmoforge is a game, not a data business. We store only what's needed to save your colony, let you sign in and sell optional gems, and we don't sell anything about you. There are no analytics trackers. The game can show optional video ads, only when you choose to watch one, and never personalised ones. This page explains exactly what is kept.
Playing as a guest
Your game is saved in your browser's local storage on your own device. Nothing about you is sent to our server.
Accounts
If you create an account, our server stores:
- Your username, which you choose and other players may see.
- Your password, hashed with scrypt. We never store or see the password itself.
- Your game saves: the current save plus up to 40 earlier versions, so lost progress can be restored.
- When the account was created and last signed in.
A username account needs no email address or any other personal information.
Signing in with Google
If you choose "Continue with Google", Google tells us your account's ID and your email address. We store both so you can sign in again and so we can find your account if you ask for help. Your name from Google is used once to suggest a username and is not stored. Your email is never shown to other players. We don't get access to your Google account, contacts or files.
Buying gems
Purchases are made on Stripe's secure payment page; Stripe processes your payment details under its own privacy policy, and we never see or store card numbers. For each purchase we keep what you bought, the amount, the date, Stripe's reference numbers and which account it belongs to, so your gems can be added to every device you sign in on and so we can help with refunds. Buying needs an account, and the game asks for a grown-up's help before the payment page opens.
Video ads
Some optional rewards (like a ×2 boost or free gems) are earned by watching a short video, but only when you tap to watch one. On atmoforge.app these come from Google's ad network; when the game is played on a game portal such as CrazyGames or Poki, that portal's ad service is used instead. We tell Google to treat every ad request as child-directed and to show non-personalised ads only, which turns off interest-based and remarketing ads. The ad service still receives technical information such as your IP address and browser to deliver and measure the ad and prevent fraud; see how Google uses information from sites that use its services. Founder Pass holders never see ads.
Cookies
We use one cookie, af_session, to keep you signed in. It lasts up to 60 days and only a scrambled (hashed) copy of it is kept on the server. During Google sign-in, two short-lived cookies (af_oauth, af_gpending, 15 minutes at most) protect the sign-in from tampering. The ad service may use cookies or local storage of its own for frequency capping and fraud prevention, never for personalised advertising. Stripe uses cookies on its own payment page.
Messages you send us
If you use the "Message the crew" form, we store your message, the optional contact details you enter and, if you're signed in, your username, so we can read and reply to it.
Network and security
The site is delivered through Cloudflare, which processes connection data such as IP addresses to deliver pages and block attacks. Our server uses your IP address briefly, in memory, to limit sign-in attempts; it is not written to our database. Fonts and images are served from our own site, not from third parties.
Children
Atmoforge is suitable for all ages. Username accounts collect no personal information, so children can play without giving any. Google accounts are subject to Google's own age rules. Ads are requested as child-directed and non-personalised for everyone, and purchases need a grown-up to answer a question first. We ask children to leave the contact box in the message form empty.
Keeping and deleting data
Account data is kept until you ask us to delete it. Purchase records may be kept longer where tax and accounting rules require it. To delete your account and all its saves, or to get a copy of your data, send us a message through the form on the homepage with your username. Guest saves can be removed at any time by clearing this site's data in your browser.
Changes
If we add anything new, we'll update this page first and change the date at the top.
